Q: HOW OFTEN SHOULD THE COFFEE MACHINE BE BACKFLUSHED?
Frequency of cleaning depends on the frequency of usage. We recommend cleaning any commercial coffee machine daily, using Cafetto Espresso Clean or Cafetto Evo backflush powder. If your coffee machine works double shifts, making a lot of coffees every day, we recommend backflushing it with clean water every hundred cups and then using Espresso Clean or Evo at the end of the day.

Q: CAN MILK FROTHER CLEANER BE USED FOR CLEANING THE STEAM WAND?
You can soak the steam wand in a solution of Cafetto Milk Frother Cleaner and hot water for better cleaning and sanitising results. It is important to have the machine TURNED ON while soaking the steam wand to prevent reversed suction up the steam wand tube.

Q: IS DESCALING OF THE COFFEE MACHINE NECESSARY IF IT IS BACKFLUSHED REGULARLY?
Yes, descaling of the coffee machine should be part of the regular coffee machine maintenance.
Water quality can be a significant problem affecting the efficient operation of an espresso machine, and the quality of the coffee in the cup. Given that water constitutes 98% of an espresso it is not surprising water quality is an issue that must be addressed.
Once scale has formed in the boiler and pipe network, it can only be removed by using special acidic descaling chemicals. As espresso machine cleaners (backflush powders) are alkaline they will have no impact on scale removal.
Use one of the safe descaling products designed for professional commercial machines such as Cafetto Vanish or Cafetto Liquid Decalcifying Concentrate.
Descaling frequency depends on the hardness of the water in the area.
